Save the Children in Kosovo completes First Stage of the CRSA
On March 6th, Save the Children in Kosovo successfully kicked off the process of drafting the Country Strategy Plan 2019 – 2021, by completing the first phase of the the Child Rights Situation Analysis (CRSA). The CRSA is a crucial step in the strategy planning process as it provides a baseline assessment of the current state of child rights which allows us to have a more informed analysis of strategic priorities, opportunities and gaps as we create the 3-year Country Strategic Plan.
The one-day workshop was divided into four main analysis sessions, each carried out in rotating group discussions led by different team leaders. Each staff member, including geographical coordinators, had the opportunity to contribute their hands-on expertise and knowledge on the covered topics. In the first part, we analyzed Kosovo’s general environment by reviewing pre-designed data on various country indicator areas such as Politics, Economy, Social-Cultural-Religious aspects, and Natural Demographics, and identifying key opportunities and challenges in this context.
The second part involved an analysis of the Child Rights dashboard (Health and Nutrition, Child Right Governance, Child Protection, and Education) where detailed information on child rights issues were reviewed and areas that need further exploration were identified.
The third part consisted of a deeper analysis of the root-causes of problems as well as the formulation of a Theory of Change for each identifiable problem, taking into consideration Save the Children’s current capability and ability to deliver. Lastly, the Workshop ended with staff jointly agreeing on prioritizing the issues that Save the Children urgently needs to tackle.
The organized workshop on the first phase of the CRSA provided us with the opportunity to work together in building a stronger analysis of the current state of child rights in Kosovo and paint a better image of the issues in which Save the Children needs to be more effectively engaged with. We do whatever it takes in order to ensure that we give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. As such, we are beyond excited to have completed phase 1 of the CRSA and looking forward to continue with Phase 2 and 3 of the CRSA, leading to the Country Strategy Plan 2019 – 2021.
