Advancing Local Empowerment

In its pursuit of advancing the localization agenda and fostering transformative change, SCiK is currently engaged in developing two crucial strategies: Localization Strategy and Partnerships Strategy. Aligned with the Local to Global for Impact ambition, these strategies aim to empower local actors, organizations, and communities in Kosovo to take a leading role in addressing developmental and social challenges hindering the proper delivery of child rights.

Co-Designing the Future: A Collaborative Workshop

As a pivotal step in this transformative journey, SCiK recently organized a two-day workshop in collaboration with key Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) including SiV, KDF, Handikos, Nevo Koncepti Putevima Sunca, Domovik, Eco Z, and KGSC. The objective of this workshop was to co-design the objectives of the Localization and Partnerships Strategies, fostering a participatory strategy drafting process.

Key Elements of the Strategies

  1. Understanding Localization and Partnerships: Key Concepts, Benefits, and Challenges

The first step involved a comprehensive exploration of the key concepts of localization and partnerships. Participants delved into the benefits of locally-owned partnership frameworks, aiming to strengthen local actors in their efforts to address developmental and social issues affecting child rights in Kosovo. The challenges inherent in this approach were also acknowledged and analyzed.

  2. Current Partnerships and Dynamics

SCiK and its CSO partners engaged in a critical review of existing partnerships and their dynamics. This introspection provided valuable insights into the current state of collaboration, identifying areas for improvement and innovation.

  3. Identifying Challenges in Current Partnerships

An open and honest discussion unfolded as participants identified and examined challenges within current partnerships. This candid assessment set the stage for targeted strategies to overcome obstacles and enhance collaborative effectiveness.

  4. Identifying Strengths and Opportunities in Current Partnerships

Building on the foundation of challenges, the workshop highlighted the strengths and opportunities embedded in current partnerships. Understanding these positive aspects served as a basis for leveraging successful elements in the future strategy.

  5. Mapping Local Capacities

An essential component of SCiK's approach is the mapping of local capacities. Recognizing and harnessing the strengths within the community are fundamental to achieving sustainable development and promoting local leadership.

  6. Visioning Future Partnerships

The workshop facilitated a forward-thinking exercise where participants envisioned the future of partnerships. This aspirational outlook aids in setting strategic goals and aligning efforts towards a common vision for child rights in Kosovo.

  7. Co-Creation Workshop

The collaborative nature of the workshop emphasized the importance of co-creation. SCiK and its partners worked hand in hand to formulate concrete objectives for the Localization and Partnerships Strategies, ensuring that the voices of all stakeholders were heard and integrated.

As SCiK advances its Localization and Partnerships Strategies, the organization demonstrates a commitment to empowering local communities in Kosovo. By fostering collaborative efforts, acknowledging challenges, and leveraging existing strengths, SCiK paves the way for a transformative approach that places local actors at the forefront of addressing child rights issues. The co-design workshop represents a pivotal moment in this journey, setting the stage for a future where the impact is not just global but deeply rooted in the empowerment of local communities.
