The Empower Summer School 2024 has wrapped up, leaving behind a trail of acquired knowledge, personal growth, and inspiration. From the first day, filled with excitement, to the last, this summer school camp was a transformative experience for lower-secondary students from Ferizaj, Mitrovicë, and Pejë municipalities.

A Supportive and Collaborative Environment

Implemented by Syri i Vizionit in collaboration with Save the Children Kosova/o, the summer school provided a warm and inclusive space for students to explore vital themes such as intercultural dialogue, social inclusion, and environmental awareness. In addition, students were guided on career orientation and the development of green skills, equipping them with the tools to make informed decisions about their futures.

This initiative didn't just foster learning; it created an environment where students could grow as individuals while building strong, lasting connections. The collaborative nature of the program highlighted the importance of teamwork, inclusion, and empathy, making it a holistic learning experience.

Key Themes of Empower 2024

Intercultural Dialogue

In an increasingly globalized world, understanding and appreciating different cultures is essential. The summer school encouraged participants to engage in meaningful conversations about cultural diversity, breaking down barriers and building bridges between communities. Through activities designed to explore various cultural perspectives, students developed a greater appreciation for the uniqueness of each culture and the shared values that unite us all.

Social Inclusion

Promoting inclusion is a cornerstone of creating equal opportunities for everyone. The participants explored what it means to foster a socially inclusive society, where every individual, regardless of background, has access to opportunities and can actively participate in community life. Discussions centered on the challenges faced by marginalized groups and the role of young people in advocating for a more inclusive future.

Environmental Awareness

Sustainability and environmental protection were key themes throughout the camp. Students were educated on the importance of preserving the environment and how individual and collective actions can contribute to environmental conservation. Students explored their personal preferences and strengths through workshops, a career panel and individual exercises helping them to better understand how their unique skills align with potential career paths. This module empowered participants to think critically about their futures and how they can contribute to a sustainable world, both professionally and personally.
