Save the Children is the world’s first, and largest, independent children’s rights organisation. Our founder, Eglantyne Jebb, wrote the first draft for the UN Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1923, and we’ve worked to uphold it ever since. Generations later, her pioneering work is being influenced by children themselves. Today, we are still going strong, working in over 100 countries worldwide to build a world where every child can thrive, grow up healthy, educated and safe, and look forward to a future full of promise.
Save the Children Kosova/o (SCiK) has been positively impacting the lives of children in Kosovo, since 1997, by utilizing global, regional and national interdisciplinary expertise to give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and be protected from harm, and emergent risks. To catalyze systematic changes in country, SCiK has implemented its portfolio across 34 municipalities, including over 32 rural areas in Kosovo through a multi-sectoral, integrated approach. Our program approach is based on direct interventions and the establishment of good practices, capacity building of civil society, and local duty bearers to respond to the needs of children.
Girls and boys in the early childhood years; children with disabilities; children of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities; children, adolescents and young people from rural areas; all children in Kosovo through advocacy for legislative changes and public campaigns.
Save the Children in Kosovo seeks to expand the National Office program to:
We don’t go into communities, carry out a project and then move on. We consult with children, their families, community leaders and local councils to understand all the issues or barriers, and then we develop programs that address these. We build trust so that our programs are successful and bring about real change.
This work is only made possible by the ongoing generosity of our donors, whose valuable support is used in the most cost-effective ways.
